Harry on hold! FA widen the net beyond people's choice Redknapp for England boss

The FA will next week draw up a list of candidates to be the next England  manager that will offer alternatives to hot favourite Harry Redknapp.
Sportsmail understands there is some opposition to the Tottenham manager within the FA.

There are also fears that they will not be able to meet the demands of Redknapp and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy - one of the toughest negotiators in football - while Tottenham's hand would be hugely strengthened if England officials went into talks with Redknapp as their only candidate.
FA chairman David Bernstein, general secretary Alex Horne, director of football development Sir Trevor Brooking and Club England managing  director Adrian Bevington will agree on a list that is expected to include some stellar names.
The panel have kept their discussions private but Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger have been  considered in the past - Mourinho was approached before the FA appointed Fabio Capello - and Pep Guardiola is also likely to be suggested, given his apparent desire to leave Barcelona this summer.

Redknapp remains the outstanding favourite, even though Brooking is understood to have reservations.
But the FA are aware of how tough a negotiator Levy can be and know Redknapp will have his stipulations, particularly as he is expected to receive a lucrative new offer to stay at White Hart Lane.
While he is unlikely to demand a salary to match Capello's £6million a year - the figure would be something nearer £4m plus performance-related bonuses - he would want a commitment that would enable him to make a real impact as England manager.

No European team has won a World Cup in South America, so Redknapp is likely to want a four-year deal that includes the European Championship in France in 2016.
Even then, Redknapp would have to decide if he wants to leave Spurs. Finishing third in the Barclays Premier League and lifting the FA Cup would seem like a good time to go, but he enjoys his job at White Hart Lane and he also respects the support he received from Levy during his recent trial.
